Question:What is a "positive hole correction" and when is it done?
Answer:A "positive hole correction" should be performed with higher levels of exposure because at high levels two spores can go through the inlet and grow as one CFU. Positive hole correction charts are available from many sources and provide corrections. For example, if your results show 100 CFUs, this means you really have 110 CFUs (not an actual chart entry; for illustrative purposes only).

Question:How should the BioStage be cleaned to avoid contamination?
Answer:The sampler should be thoroughly wiped with rubbing alcohol and allowed to dry before each use. NIOSH suggests that a representative petridish w/agar be loaded and immediately unloaded to serve as a blank.
