 Anasorb CMS Sorbent is No Longer Available

SKC regrets to announce that Anasorb® CMS sorbent is no longer available. Anasorb CMS requires difficult, complex processing to produce consistent batches. After repeated attempts, SKC has been unable to overcome recent problems with the production process. Therefore, SKC is discontinuing Anasorb CMS.

 

SKC has made obsolete the following products containing Anasorb CMS sorbent and cancelled all backorders for these items.

§   Solvent Extraction Sorbent Tubes for NIOSH/OSHA Methods

   SKC Cat. Nos. 226-121 and 226-144

§   Thermal Desorption Sorbent Tubes

   SKC Cat. Nos. 226-330, 226-341, 226-346, 226-347, 226-349, 226-350, 226-352

 

§   Bulk Sorbent

   SKC Cat. No. P226121

 

The SKC Sample Media Manager is working actively with contacts at NIOSH and OSHA to find suitable alternatives to these products. Note the alternatives recommended by SKC for the following methods:

OSHA Method 69 for Acetone

Alternative sampler is SKC Passive Sampler Cat. No. 575-002 (Anasorb 747).

OSHA Method 80 for Methylene Chloride

Alternative sampler is SKC Passive Sampler Cat. No. 575-001 (charcoal).

OSHA Method 103 for Enflurane, Halothane, and Isoflurane

Alternative sorbent tube is SKC Cat. No. 226-81A (Anasorb 747 [140/70 mg]) as described in the method.

OSHA Method 113 for 1,1-Dichloro-1-fluoroethane (Freon 141b) and 1,1,2-Trichloro-1,2,2-Trifluoroethane (Freon 113)

There is no alternative indicated in the OSHA method. Stainless steel canisters are an option. Contact your laboratory professional for recommendations.

OSHA Method 1004 for 2-Butanone (MEK) and Hexone (MIBK)

Alternative sampler is SKC Passive Sampler Cat. No. 575-002 (Anasorb 747).

NIOSH Method 1025 for 1- and 2-Bromopropane

Alternative sorbent tube is SKC Cat. No. 226-01 (Coconut Shell Charcoal [100/50 mg]).

 

NIOSH Method 2500 for Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK)

Alternative sorbent tube is SKC Cat. No. 226-81A (Anasorb 747 [140/70 mg]). A passive alternative is SKC Passive Sampler Cat. No. 575-002 (Anasorb 747).

NIOSH Method 2555 for Ketones

There is no alternative listed in the NIOSH method. Use OSHA Method 1004 for MEK and MIBK above with SKC Passive Sampler Cat. No. 575-002 (Anasorb 747).

NIOSH Method 2558 for Acetoin

There is no alternative listed in the NIOSH method. Use OSHA Methods 1012 and 1013 with SKC Sorbent Tube Cat. No. 226-183 (specially washed/baked silica gel and glass fiber filter [two tubes, 600 mg each]).

 

NIOSH Method 2562 for 1,1,2,2-Tetrachloroethane

There is no alternative listed in the NIOSH method. Use NIOSH Method 1019 with SKC Sorbent Tube Cat. No. 226-81A (Anasorb 747 [140/70 mg]).
