Teflon Filters
(Polytetrafluoroethylene Filters) (PTFE)

  • Chemically resistant

  • Hydrophobic

  • Low background, interference-free chemical determinations

  • Low tare mass for accurate gravimetric results

  • Autoclavable

  • Meet OSHA, NIOSH, and EPA method specifications

SKC PTFE filters are strong and completely resistant to acids, bases, and all solvents. Use PTFE filters when sampling in aggressive environments. A low chemical background makes PTFE filters ideal for sampling low concentration contaminants. Naturally hydrophobic, PTFE filters feature a low tare mass for accurate gravimetric determinations SKC PTFE filters are temperature-stable to 527 F (275 C). The maximum operating temperature for Teflon filters with PMP support ring is 464 F (240 C). PTFE filters are prone to static effects. For the most accurate sampling use a static eliminator.

A typical filter will have a rough side and a shiny side. The shiny side is easier to read under a microscope, therefore, expose the shiny side to the air for microscopic analysis. The rough side holds dust more effectively; expose the rough side for gravimetric analysis.
