Surface Sampling Test Kits
Each kit includes eight self-contained sampling swabs with all of the
materials required for a rapid screening test to detect a specific
contaminant on surfaces and in liquids. They are simple to use, easy
to interpret,
and provide results in minutes. Simply squeeze the swab to release
the reagent, shake and squeeze gently until liquid appears on the
tip of the
swab, then wipe the surface area with the swab. Observe the color
change which indicates the presence of the contaminant. Each is specific
for the
designated contaminant with no other materials reacting to give the
same color. Since no instruments are needed, the swabs are convenient
and can
be used almost anywhere.
How To Use the Test Kits

Squeeze the swab to crush the front
glass vial inside. |

Squeeze the swab to crush the rear glass vial
inside. |

3. |
Shake the swab to mix the reagents. |

While squeezing the swab, rub the surface to be
tested for approximately 30 seconds. Within one minute, the swab
will turn color if the contaminant is present. |
LeadCheck ® Test Kit
- Sodium rhodizinate based
- Meets specifications of NIOSH Method 7700 for lead
- Detects lead on many surfaces

Swab tip turns pink in the presence of lead.

- High concentrations of tin turns swab tip purple
- Interferences
- No other metals react to give the same color response.
The FDA reports that the LeadCheck swabs were able to detect the
presence or absence of lead on 96.6% of the surfaces sampled. The
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) found that
the LeadCheck Swabs were able to detect lead in paint as well as
or better than other testing methods.
