TCLP Bags

In 1990 the EPA issued a final ruling on the procedure for determining the mobility of organic and inorganic contaminants present in liquid, solid, and multiphasic waste. The Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) provides a means to determine the potential for waste leaching in a landfill environment. According to this procedure, a pressure-driven piston system, Zero Headspace Extractor (ZHE), forces liquid waste through a glass fiber filter and into a Tedlar bag for subsequent analysis.

SKC offers an alternative disposable Tedlar bag for use with the Zero Headspace Extractor. The 231-01-TCLP bag is a one-liter Tedlar bag with a single stainless steel septum fitting that is designed to be connected to commercially available extractor vessels using a special stainless steel adapter (231-01-ZHE).

Using Standard Bags

The use of a standard one-liter SKC 231-01 bag featuring two stainless steel fittings also complies with the EPA TCLP Method but is more expensive. The hose/valve fitting is used for initial bag filling while the septum fitting is used for removing a sample. These bags are suitable for attachment directly to an extractor with an appropriate Teflon^® or stainless steel coupler or Teflon tubing.
