Moisture instruments Product Data Bulletin PDF

An essential tool for microbial IAQ investigations, moisture meters detect excess moisture in materials that is often not visible and that can quickly lead to microbial growth and IAQ problems. It is important to determine the source of moisture quickly and accurately and to identify areas for remediation and control. Traditional moisture meters use small probes that penetrate the material to be tested (conductive testing). Encounter moisture meters use a non-destructive technology to measure moisture.

Principle of Operation

Encounter meters operate on the principal of non-destructive impedance measurement. Parallel coplanar electrodes are fitted on the base of the instrument. During operation, low-frequency signals are transmitted into the material being tested to measure the change in impedance caused by the presence of moisture. This reading is translated by the instrument into a moisture content reading.

759-103  Moisture Encounter Plus Meter

The Moisture Encounter Plus provides non-destructive accurate readings of the percentage of moisture in wood and relative readings of moisture in drywall, roofing, plaster, and brick. Three built-in easy-to-read scales make moisture measurement quick and easy. The Moisture Encounter Plus can detect moisture through ceramic tiles, vinyl flooring, VCT, flooring laminates, wall coverings, drywall, carpet, or roofing membranes, and coatings.

759-102  Concrete Encounter CME4

The hand-held electronic Concrete Encounter CME4 measures moisture content instantly in concrete floors and floor screeds without drilling or damaging the surface. Percentage of moisture content is indicated on an easy-to-read analog dial. The measuring range is up to 6% in concrete and from 0-10% comparative on gypsum screeds.

Advanced Survey Encounter

759-101  Advanced Survey Encounter

759-101  Advanced Survey Encounter

Using the non-destructive technique of measuring resistance, the advanced Survey Encounter detects moisture beneath surfaces quickly and accurately. Soft conductive electrode pads on the base of the meter run smoothly over the test surface and immediately identify moisture without scratching or drilling. Survey Encounter features a powerful micro-controller, real-time clock, temperature sensor, and high-capacity non-volatile memory chip. The micro-controller processes readings and uses existing temperature and the specific gravity information contained in its built-in library to accurately calculate moisture content for specific materials. The built-in library contains 32 wood species, three wall types, and three roofing types. Additional wood species can be accessed through the provided software. Store and download data to a PC for analysis or reporting.

Moisture and Humidity Meter

759-104 MRH Moisture and Humidity Meter

759-104 MRH Moisture/Humidity Meter

The pocket-size MRH non-destructive digital display moisture meter measures the percentage of moisture content in wood and provides comparative readings for other building materials. MRH features a switchable specific gravity adjustment for most wood species and provides relative readings deep into most building materials. An optional wood moisture probe allows invasive pin-type measurements if desired. An optional RH probe measures relative humidity, temperature, dew point temperature, and grains/lb-grams/kg. Additional accessories are available for determining compliance with ASTM standards F2170-02 and F2420-05.
