Long-duration Color Detector Tubes

Direct TWA Readings

Designed for use with a personal air sampling pump, long-duration color detector tubes are used for on-the-spot Time-Weighted Average (TWA) measurements. The tube is attached to a worker's collar and the sample pump pulls the air sample through the tube at a constant rate (20 ml/min) during the sampling period. At the conclusion of the testing period, the total volume is calculated (rate [ml/min] x time [min]). Chemical concentration is read directly from the tube. The TWA in parts per million (ppm) is readily calculated using the instructions that accompany the tubes.

When sampling with long-duration color detector tubes, use trap tubes to protect the sample pump from chemicals that may be generated by the detector tube during sampling. At least One trap tube is recommended for each long-duration tube. The SKC tandem tube holder accommodates one long-duration tube and one trap tube.
