High flows from 5 to 15 L/min
Achieve flow rates that you couldn't reach before when using a personal sample pump. The Leland Legacy® provides the high flows and long run times of a vacuum-style pump in a compact, portable, and battery-operated sampler.

Long runs for 24 hours on one battery charge
Rechargeable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery pack provides 24-hour run times with impactors and other sampling devices with low back pressures*. Leland Legacy is ideal for 24-hour indoor air studies and unattended ambient air sampling.

* Leland Legacy is not recommended for high back pressure applications such as asbestos clearance sampling.

Typical Run Time

24+ hours:

  • Sioutas Impactor at 9 L/min (approximately 13 inches water back pressure)
  • Personal Environmental Monitor (PEM) with 37-mm, 2.0-µm PTFE (Teflon) filter 225-1709at 10 L/min
  • Low-volume PUF Tube at 5 L/min
  • IMPACT Sampler (PM2.5 or PM10) at 10 L/min
  • For extended run times, the pump may be operated while attached to the approved charger.
Results obtained using a new pump and new fully charged battery. Pump performance may vary.
Back pressure on PTFE (Teflon) filters can vary within the same lot. Maximum operating temperature is 464 F (240 C) based on support ring.

Low Levels
Longer runs at higher flows provide more sample for the enhanced sensitivity required for measuring low concentrations, particularly in indoor air environments.

Low Noise
With the noise reducing case accessory, the Leland Legacy can operate at 10 L/min and 12 inches water back pressure with a noise level of only 52 dBA.**

Advanced flow control
The patented (U.S. Patent No. 5,892,160) internal flow sensor measures flow directly and acts as a secondary standard to constantly maintain the set flow. Set flow is achieved immediately at start-up and flow calibration is automatically maintained by built-in sensors that compensate for differences in temperature and atmospheric pressure during sampling.

    No tools needed. Simply use the built-in keypad to set, calibrate, and sample! Real-time sampling parameters are available at the touch of a button.

  • PC programmability
    The ultimate in pump scheduling and recordkeeping. Use Leland Legacy with your PC and DataTrac for Leland Legacy Software to create complete running sequences, download sampling and calibration data, and generate sampling reports for ISO 9000, TQM programs and occupational health and safety management systems. DataTrac Software for Leland Legacy is included in the 5-pack kits and sold separately.

The patented (U.S. Patent No's. 6,227,031 and 6,363,769) built-in CalChek feature provides direct communication to a Defender primary standard calibrator for fast and easy calibration without manual adjustments. The Defender calibrator is sold separately or available in convenient Leland Legacy CalChek pump kits.

Leland Legacy and Sioutas Impactor*

Suitable for use with the Leland Legacy Pump at 9 L/min, the Sioutas Impactor separates airborne particles precisely into five size ranges from ultrafine to PM2.5. When used with PTFE (Teflon) filters, the Sioutas Impactor is highly efficient at collecting particles without using impaction grease or coated substrate and at retaining unstable compounds for size-fractionated chemical analysis. U.S. EPA Environmental Technology Verification (EPA-ETV) is a program that furthers environmental protection by accelerating acceptance and use of improved, cost-effective technologies through performance verification. EPA-ETV recently tested the SKC Leland Legacy Sample Pump with the Sioutas Impactor and released its report. The SKC Leland Legacy and NUATRC

The Leland Legacy was developed in partnership with the Mickey Leland National Urban Air Toxics Research Center (NUATRC) to further advance personal exposure measurement.

Established by Congress in the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (CAAA), the non-profit Leland Center is responsible for investigating public health risks posed by air toxics to urban populations. The Leland Center is a private/public research partnership that brings together corporate, academic, and government scientists to develop a sound peer-reviewed air toxics research program. This program is jointly supported by the private sector and the U.S. EPA.

Li-Ion Battery Shipment
Rechargeable, lithium-ion batteries for use with SKC sampling pumps have been tested in accordance with the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria and are designated as UN3091.

For air shipments:
Rechargeable, lithium-ion batteries in SKC sampling pumps are designated as UN3091 and have a watt-hour (Wh) rating below 100. Packaging must meet the specifications of and contain labeling and documentation required by IATA Packing Instructions 965, 966, and 967. Per these instructions:

  • Boxes containing Li-Ion batteries only cannot exceed a maximum gross weight of 22 pounds (10 kg).
  • The Maximum number of batteries packed with equipment is the number required to power equipment in the box plus 2 spare batteries per unit.
  • There is no maximum limitation for batteries contained within equipment.
For ground shipments:
U.S. DOT regulations specify a limit of 24 or fewer battery cells in one shipping box. To be exempt from Dangerous Goods Shipping requirements, the box must contain 24 or fewer cells. Therefore, limit any box to be shipped via ground to the following number of pumps:

Leland Legacy — 2 pumps
QuickTake 15 — 12 pumps
QuickTake 30 — 3 pumps
AirChek XR 5000 — 6 standard Li-ion model pumps or 3 high-power Li-Ion model pumps.

Note: 5-pack kits of high-power XR5000 sample pump exceed DOT limitations for ground shipments. Two pumps need to be shipped in a separate box to be exempt OR additional requirements have to be met to place the shipment.
