The 3-button Keypad Does It All
Use the three buttons under the sliding cover to operate the Pocket Pump
at flows from 20 to 225 ml/min. Set the flow rate in constant flow mode
for single sorbent tube applications, or
set
the back pressure in constant pressure mode for multiple sorbent tube applications.
The Pocket Pump accommodates flow ranges for most sorbent tube and long-duration
detector tube methods. Users may also select the temperature and pressure
scale. To execute any command that would change the operating mode or a
sampling parameter, a security code is required that minimizes tampering
and maintains sample validity. The Pocket Pump may be placed in a HOLD
state at any time without loss of data.
The Pocket Pump operates in either constant flow or constant pressure (multiple-tube
sampling) mode with flows from 20 to 225 ml/min. Operation is programmed using
the 3-button keypad or a personal computer through the interface module.
The Pocket Pump’s built-in security code system prevents a worker from changing
settings or sample parameters, thus ensuring sample validity. Also,
multiple keys must be pressed to place the unit into a HOLD state; accidentally
pressing one button will not alter the operating state.
Direct Readout of Data
The large easy-to-read LCD shows direct readouts of sample data that is continuously
updated and may be displayed during sampling at the touch of a button.
Simply press a key to scroll through the sample data that includes flow rate,
air
volume,
temperature
of the incoming air, and sample time. The LCD constantly displays a battery
status icon, and a flashing flow fault icon appears when flow is restricted
or blocked.
Pump-controlled Charging
Never worry about overcharging again. Since advanced electronics are built into the pump and not the charger, the smart charging battery system knows how much charging the pump needs; it never overcharges. The batteries may be charged with the battery charger while the pump is running. The Pocket Pump may operate indefinitely with the AC charger/adapter without harm to the battery pack.
The battery charge status icon is constantly displayed. When the pump loses all charge, it enters the SLEEP mode while preserving the historical data in memory. When fully charged, the internal NiMH cells provide 12 hours of continuous use at 200 ml/min with back pressure at 10 inches of water. Run times vary with media used.
PC Programmable with DataTrac Software
Use DataTrac Software (optional accessory) and your personal computer to
make the Pocket Pump PC programmable. DataTrac simplifies chain-of-custody
reporting by allowing users to program up to 14 complete running sequences
including delayed start, timed stop, and intermittent sampling, all at different
flow rates. Pump settings can be changed with the click of a mouse button.
DataTrac’s Real-time Monitor window displays a real-time readout of the Pocket Pump’s
operations including time and sample volume. Lengthy calculations are unnecessary;
DataTrac does it all for you. The advanced information retrieval system is
specifically designed to store data and provide chain-of-custody information.
DataTrac also stores historical data in pump memory that can be retrieved
up to 24 hours after shutdown.
- Program the flow rate, start and stop date, and sample duration.
- Schedule multiple start and stop times.
- Create a sample setup sheet for worker, sample, and analysis information.
- Download historical records of flow rate, sample time, air volume, temperature, and more.
- Print or save a complete report of sample and pump history information.

| Flow Fault |
If the pump is unable to
compensate for longer than 15 seconds due to excessive back

into HOLD, the fault icon appears on the display, and the
accumulated run time display is frozen and retained. After
5 minutes in flow fault, auto-restart is attempted every
5 minutes until flow is corrected. |

Pocket Pumps with NiCad battery packs are available from SKC Ltd. The pumps
manufactured by SKC Ltd. will not be UL Listed, but will comply with
the European regulations for intrinsic safety (ATEX). |
† |
Unlike other pumps, Pocket Pump contains circuitry that controls charging,
therefore, the LED on PowerFlex will remain red during the entire charging
process. The Pocket Pump LCD will display charge status. |
Note: |
Replacing batteries with non-approved battery packs voids the pump warranty
and UL intrinsic safety approvals. |
