SKC is the world leader in sampling technologies. Founded in 1962 by chemist Lloyd V. Guild in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the privately held corporation specialized in producing precision laboratory glassware. As Dr. Guild observed working conditions in Pittsburgh's steel and mining industries, he developed a mission to protect workers from occupational airborne exposures. As other scientists joined Dr. Guild's mission, he expanded SKC's capabilities to produce the first commercially available NIOSH-designed sorbent tube and one of the first low flow pumps, providing accurate samples of worker gas and vapor exposure.
Today, SKC is known as a leading manufacturer of air sample pumps, sorbent tubes, gas sample bags, passive samplers, particulate samplers, and filters for the industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, and environmental markets. From its humble start as a one-room company with a handful of employees, SKC has grown its employee base and now occupies an eight-building research, manufacturing, and warehouse facility in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania. SKC's extensive sales and service network includes branches and manufacturer representatives supporting customer needs in the U.S., U.K., Asia, and South Africa, as well as global distributors in over 60 countries. SKC is ISO 9001 certified and takes pride in its quality management and manufacturing of products that protect workers and the environment.
